Double Feature film on laserdisc - Horrors of the Black Museum/The Headless Ghost - Widescreen - Producer's Edition - CLV extended play - ROAN Group - Catalog # RGL9611 - 1959 - Color and Black & White - 167 Minutes - Not Rated.
Horrors, in beautifully saturated color and CinemaScope, concerns Edmond Bancroft (Michael Gough), a crime reporter who puts together a most ingenious series of murders. The screenwriters based these crimes on actual events chronicled in Scotland Yard's Black Museum.
The Headless Ghost was filmed in black and white and CinemaScope to make sure that American International got 100% of the drive-in's double feature box office. The ads read "Head-hunting teenagers lost in the haunted castle!" The teens want to help a decapitated spirit rejoin its head and body. Much dumb fun ensues.
Both features have been digitally mastered from the best possible materials, both are accompanied by their original preview trailers and both have been letterboxed to preserve the anamorphic camerawork. Horrors includes a commentary from producer/writer Herman Cohen, along with the Hypno-Vista introduction (gimmick) that preceded it in the United States.
